Saturday March 15th 2014. This is the date that Soldier played the first of many shows at The Rock Den in Hatfield.

It all came about after Dean saw the band play at
The British Steel Festival at The Underworld in Camden in 2012. It took a while, but after several emails and phone calls a date was booked and Soldier finally rolled over the border into Hertfordshire!

By 2014 the band line-up had changed and included the new rhythm section of Tim Churchman on drums and Dave Harrison on bass. With this line-up the band entered their most busy gigging period since they had reformed in 2003.

As a band, whenever you play a new venue you obviously don't know what to expect. What became very apparent, very quickly, was that The Rock Den crowd like their music and they like to enjoy themselves!

The set included some of the very first songs the band ever recorded going right up to the then new album Dogs Of War and The Rock Den Massive lapped it up! From the gentle piano intro of Paradox to the epic Starhaven to the classic Sheralee, the reaction was amazing and the band had a great time.

While this line-up of the band did a lot of gigs it never did any studio recordings so this release fills a gap in the bands history and serves as the link between Dogs Of War and the next studio album Defiant.

Although some tracks from the set are missing due to technical issues with the source material that couldn't be overcome, this album stands as a good statement of how this version of Soldier sounded live. So sit back, turn it up and get ready for a Storm Of Steel!
